Identifying bipolar disorder through MRI

Two common mental health disorders, Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder, are often misdiagnosed, leading to a delay in effective treatment.

Currently, diagnosis is made by patient observation and verbal history. Using functional MRI, Dr. Elizabeth Osuch is looking to identify a biomarker in the brain which could help to differentiate and treat these two disorders. Her study is published in the Journal of Affective Disorders. More…
