Graduate student research is a vital element of the work performed by BIRC scientists. The reputation of BIRC is due in no small measure to the high quality of the graduate student research carried out under the mentorship of our scientists and collaborators. Graduate students are our most important resource, both now and in the future, and we believe that they work most effectively in an atmosphere of cooperation rather than competition. Many of our research papers have joint or multiple authorship and our students tend to have excellent publication records and win many awards.
The following student profiles are a cross section of current and former students who have agreed to share their experiences within their different BIRC laboratories at Western.
